I don’t know about you guys, but I love the combination of orange with dark chocolate. I can be a real chocoholic sometimes, you know. When the craving for something decadent hits, this recipe of Orange and Dark Chocolate Cupcakes always come to mind.

I used my ever popular one bowl vanilla cupcake recipe, added some orange juice and orange zest to the batter, with a whole lot of dark chocolate chips and covered it in whipped dark chocolate ganache with extra orange zest for that deep fruity flavor.

Instructions
  1. In an electric mixer add the butter, milk, orange juice, sugar, eggs, vanilla, salt, baking powder and flour.
  2. Mix on high for 2 min, until fully combined.
  3. Add the chocolate chips and zest and mix.
  4. Spoon the batter into medium sized muffin cups until ¾ full.
  5. Bake at 180 degrees Celsius for 15 minutes or until a tester comes out clean.
  6. Remove from oven and leave to cool.
  7. For the ganache, heat the cream in the microwave until hot and add the slabs of chocolate in chunks, mixing it through the hot cream until melted. Refrigerate until set.
  8. With an electric hand mixer, whip the ganache until you have a spreadable consistency.
  9. Spread the ganache over the cupcakes and top with zest and spun sugar.
