Do you ever feel like the most stressful time of the day is your mornings?  After that second snooze, getting out of bed sometimes seems like an impossible task.  Getting the kids ready for school, feeding them breakfast and packing the lunchboxes can enforce mild anxiety, and then you still have to give yourself a nutritious start to the day…

Whether your schedule is to hit gym before sunrise or simply to easy into the day with the start of the school run, this Power Breakfast Smoothie is the perfect on-the-go breakfast for each and everyone living an 8-5 lifestyle.

It consists of only goodness and wholesome ingredients, speedily blended and ready in minutes.

I went for a simple, yet refined recipe here, with ingredients you will find in most health conscious kitchens. Full cream plain yogurt, chia seeds, frozen mixed berries, banana, rolled oats, spirulina, honey and cranberry juice –  all with amazing health benefits and crammed into one nourishing breakfast.

So here is the thing.  

Since the smoothie bowl craze hit our screens (shamelessly admit I did indulge in it) confusion reigned as to how one was supposed to go about ‘eating’ your liquid breakfast.  

I prefer using a spoon when my smoothie bowl (more yogurt than anything else) is layered with granola or oats or fruit, making it more chunky and well, edible in that way.  Most of the creations we see online though, are literally liquids with some fruit and seeds decorated on top.  Slurp away if you want, but I prefer my SMOOTHIES to be actual liquid that I can drink.

If slurping with a spoon is your thing, I recommend doubling up on the oats and maybe incorporate some chunky pieces of fruit in your bowl.

However, if you are like me then double up on the cranberry juice and add half a cup of crushed ice into the blender, or simply replace the yogurt with almond milk instead and sip away…

Instructions
  1. Place all the ingredients in your blender and pulse until smooth.
Recipe Notes

Replace the yogurt with almond milk and double up on the cranberry juice for a thinner smoothie.

Double up on the oats and add extra fruit if you like a more thicker and chunkier smoothie.
