Thank you for visiting Aninas Recipes, my very own little space where I can share my culinary adventures with the world.  This really isn’t your normal food blog.  As a matter of fact, this little sharing space has become a recipe portal for the last 7 years and is filled with easy recipes for the home cook, focusing on cooking-from-scratch and enjoying the thrill of the kitchen.

Everyday food becomes all-you-can-think-of food, and that’s about my purpose here!

My blog paints a picture of utter passion for great fresh produce, quality ingredients and wonderful flavours and aromas (and maybe a few awesome products as well) – all whipped up, mastered and photographed in my own comfy home studio.

Who am I?

My name is Anina Meyer – an amateur turned pro – recipe developer, blogger, food stylist, photographer, cook, sometimes baker and entertainer if you like.  Yes, despite what you might think, I have no formal culinary background as such, but had to quickly learn the ropes when I jumped head first into the family Cake Shop many years ago! Menu development and catering was the order of the day.  Once I was gifted my first DSLR camera, I went to Google and Youtube school and learned all about Food Photography and Styling – one of my many passions!

My Food Journey

I am a whole lot more conscious of what I eat as opposed to when I was in my 20’s!

My food journey is a pretty simple one.  I always thought that the absolute best way to go is eating Whole Foods.  Being not a fan of processed, ready-made meals, I would much rather cook something from scratch for me and my family, than having to resort to giving my family nutrition-less food.  In saying that, this blog is not an exclusively “healthy” blog.

I feature some crazy yummy not-so-healthy treats and cakes, BECAUSE LIFE IS SHORT RIGHT? but then again, I also love eating healthy and fresh food, so you will see a lot of that.

We try not to eat too much meat and I could easily be on a plant based only diet (I experiment a lot with this at home) – I try to make good choices for myself as far as I can.  The rest of my household? Recons veggies need a special place in hell. Yes. The Dilemma. I have to cook two meals for dinner sometimes – a veggie based meal for me and a more meaty meal for the man.

(He gets smoothies and basically spinach and tomato salads for lunch). We have come a long way and it’s been a positive change to try and minimize our meat consumption.  When I do shop for meats, I keep a conscious eye out on where it’s from and how it has been farmed.

So… you will see some lip-smacking roasts, grills and just generally easy weekday meals that features good quality meats.

Other than managing my food blog , daytime is a hustle as I freelance as a professional recipe developer, food stylist, and photographer.  I create drool-worthy images for brands, restaurants and basically anyone in the hospitality industry, upping their digital portfolio.
